Add your business to Google Maps (Local Results)

Google Maps is a free local business listing service that can be viewed in your Web browser provided by Google. Google Maps makes it easy for searchers to find your company and its pertinent information, including a description of your business, contact information, location, driving directions and map, links to your website, etc. Once you’ve created an account, you will be able view, edit, and enhance your listing by adding user generated content and images. It’s a very valuable resource and the more you customize it the better.

Here’s how to add your business to Google Maps

  1. Go to Google Local Business center: http://www.google.com/local/add/businessCenter
  2. Sign in using your Google account, if you don’t have a Google account, click on sign up to create a new account, its free
  3. Click on Add/Edit Listing. Fill out the form with basic information like the Business Name and Location.
  4. You can get a preview of your basic information, make additional changes if necessary
  5. You can add additional information by adding email address, website, description, hours of operation
  6. Pick a category that best suits your business. You can have up to five categories
  7. You can also include additional custom attributes like specialty, add pictures
  8. You can also create discount printable coupons to your business
  9. Preview your listings
  10. Your business needs to be verified by phone or via postcard. Phone verification is the easiest method where you will receive a phone call at the number you provided. You will receive a PIN number. Enter the pin number using your touch phone
  11. Once verified, your business will be listed in Google Maps within approximately 3-10 days
